Garden variety garden

Hi,

I took the time this weekend to go ahead and dig up a small garden in the back yard. It isn't real big but I planted seeds for Cherry Tomatoes, Tomato Tomatoes, Two varieties of Cucumbers and some green beans. I am not sure about the beens but I thought I would give em a try. I wanted to plant some yellow squash but it isn't time yet. I guess that is why they call them summer squash.

I dug up the ground with the same shovel that my dad, Kent Twyman, used to plant trees in our yard with when he first bought our family home here in Houston about 48 Years ago.

I am not sure how this garden is going to work since I don't really have that much experience with vegetable gardens. I bought a couple of bags of miracle grow garden soil and mixed it in and I am hoping it works as good as in the commercials. I did follow the directions on the seed packets and I am hoping that is all it will take.

If I am lucky enough to get something to grow, there are quite a few birds, squirrels, Possums, and other creatures that I think I will have to contend with. I am thinking that I will have to make a chicken wire cover to keep the birds out since we have quite a few birds due to some large shrubs in my yard and also the fact that my neigbors put out bird food.

That is all for now but I will check back in the future.

Thanks
